I love football. I have a favorite team, but I will never own them. I’m not the caveman sports fan. This allows me to love the sport as a whole and enjoy a good game no matter who is playing.
This year’s Super bowl Sunday which was also dubbed via the web as #brandbowl had the worst ads over all that I can remember. I base this on my own personal laugh out loud moments or WOW moments. To which I had only three total. Read the rest of this entry »
Public Relations is a dead industry! If you think that, I will help you out from under that rock you have been hiding under. Social Media is not God. It’s not here to save you or your business. It’s a tool that is meant to help you create leverage.
Now, I will admit that for a split second about a year ago I thought “Who needs PR.. brands can do it themselves!!” Then I slapped myself (literally) and quickly woke up.
Public relations as a discipline is very much alive and well. And the same basic rules still apply. If you’re a small business or a personal brand, you more than likely don’t need to be represented by a PR firm. But if you are a big business or a celebrity, you most definitely need to have an experienced PR team on your side. Read the rest of this entry »
When I was in LA for the #140conf a few months ago, I ran into Carol Quinn aka @3Lunches. Our interaction was brief, but the thought of three lunches stuck in my head because…well, I love food.
When I got home I connected with Carol via Twitter and went and checked out 3Lunches.com. The concept is to ask for coaching from someone who has knowledge you need. This is done in a format set around three actual lunches. Read the rest of this entry »
Last month I spoke at a Cool Twitter Conference in Philadelphia. There are a ton of Twitter Conferences popping up. I like this one because it is most likely coming to a city near you. In the last year I believe it has hit 16 cities all over the world.
I spoke about taking your Twitter connections to the next level with some Q and A at the end. I hope you enjoy the talk and check out @bobfine who runs this conference. Also, follow the hash tag #CTC.
On the 14-15th of Dec I will be at Government25. I’ll be on a panel the second day. If you’re in DC and interested check it out. I also had the chance to finally meet Phil Baumann who also spoke at this conference in Philly. @PhilBaumann has awesome ideas and thought on social media and health care. If health care interests you and your involved in the social space I suggest checking out what he has to say.
What is your social media drug of choice? Facebook, Twitter, Myspace, Linkedin, Skype maybe Flickr? Let me know in the comments.
**(In the video I said ProBlogger I meant CopyBlogger– All bloggers look the same to me!) No Twitter. No open laptops. No flash photos. No wifi. No PROBLEM. Respect is what the Audience Conference said yes to. The way in which this event was put on and handled has inspired me to want to put on my own event. I want to live life and conduct business with the least amount of bullshit possible. The audience conference gave me the feeling that you can be real and do business.
The Audience conference will not be televised. At some point video from the event may be released in a slow manner, but some moments in the conference is not meant for the masses. If you’re looking for a take away thought from the event it’s this: In short if you’re not being yourself and telling your story then you suck. To make money and be happy while doing it, you have to leverage what works for you and build off of that.
To win a signed copy of @garyvee’s Crush It all you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling me what you are passionate about. If you do, chances are good, you’ll win a book! I’m selecting five of the best answers, so get going.
OMG! Add me to a list and I will smile as I look at the cool place in which you have stuck me @ohdoctah or @iqmz. If you are already cracked out on lists you might want to try Seesmic Desktop. Follow @askseesmic or @jyamasaki John is awesome!
The post could be spent talking about how many awesome people I meet and reconnected with @140conf. In the end is all about the connections. I love people. My flickr will have some bonus pics I left out! So friend me there!! Read the rest of this entry »
In short, the job @DevriesPR did at the #140conf in LA was awesome. For right now it looks like they cut down interviews and released snippets of them. These videos were going up through out the days of the event. Read the rest of this entry »
