My Review of the #AudienceConf

**(In the video I said ProBlogger I meant CopyBlogger– All bloggers look the same to me!)
No Twitter. No open laptops. No flash photos. No wifi. No PROBLEM. Respect is what the Audience Conference said yes to. The way in which this event was put on and handled has inspired me to want to put on my own event. I want to live life and conduct business with the least amount of bullshit possible. The audience conference gave me the feeling that you can be real and do business.

Jason & Loren

The Audience conference will not be televised. At some point video from the event may be released in a slow manner, but some moments in the conference is not meant for the masses. If you’re looking for a take away thought from the event it’s this: In short if you’re not being yourself and telling your story then you suck. To make money and be happy while doing it, you have to leverage what works for you and build off of that.

Check out the pictures I took at the after parties of the event. Take a second to look at the line up of the speakers at the event. I can say I enjoyed about 90% of the talks. Everyone played well to the audience. Some I put above others. Maybe you should follow: Jason Calacanis aka @Jason, Brian Clark aka @CopyBlogger, Rae Hoffman aka @sugarrae, Frank Roche aka @frankroche, and Melanie Notkin aka @savvyauntie. I also like Jeremy Schoemaker aka @shoemoney though his talk was a lil meh, but this video on BS at conferences in titled Can We Talk rocked!

Affiliate marketing is not for me. Many of my friends do it and make good money from it. After meeting Shawn Collins and Missy Ward aka @missyward (I <3 her), I might have to take another look at it. Like most things shady people can give an industry a bad name. Meeting people who get “it,” work hard, and have integrity is awesome! Follow @affiliatetip then read “You should have been at the Audience Conference.”

This conference had REAL talent also. Not just internet entrepreneurs building empires from the power of the internet, but artists with real skills. The musical performances moved Loren to… dare I say it.. tears. The performance by Jason Liebman aka @jasonLmusic and Rachel Platten aka @RachelPlatten moved me as well. So much so I will later do a post for each of them. It was truly a moment I will judge all other events by. Special thanks to John Rosenfelder aka @earbender for providing the musical talent.

Thank you Loren Feldman aka @1938media and Anton Mannering aka @hatmedia for putting on an inspiring event. Oh and I love…Love…LOVE Michelle Feldman aka @MichelleFeldman. Michelle’s sister and mother were there as well.. they rock!

I will leave you with a taste of poetry by Robert Bruce aka @robertBruce. It’s a “play” on the 4 Hour work week. Enjoy:

The Four Hundred-Hour Workweek

Around six months ago
I began outsourcing
the writing of poems
to an Indian call center

My account executive there
placed me with a fine young
gentleman working the phone
from his home in a
suburb of Calcutta

It took some time
and several false starts
but he’s finally
coming around
figuring out my style
understanding the
complicated culture
that is
American
Poetry

Visit KnifeGunPen for the rest of this poem its awesome!

  • Owen, thanks for this great overview. It makes me wish I was in the Audience. ;-) Hope all is well. Great to see you in LA!
  • It was a good event. Make sure you keep an eye open for it next time. I am great, thank you for asking. I'm sure we will bump into each other sometime soon, Jeff is always doing something.
  • Absolutely!
  • Owen, it was great to meet you and share experiences. Let's see if we can get you out to Affiliate Summit in January. I'll have you leaving that conference *loving* affiliate marketing ;-) Oh.. one change in your video.. Brian Clark is @copyblogger, not @problogger.

e-me if you need a press pass for AS!
  • Thank you for catching that!! They all look the same to me! I will defiantly connect with you via email. As a matter of fact I need to start following you on Twitter as well. It was awesome meeting you.
  • It was a pleasure to meet you the night before Audience at the pre-party.

You're my mission now - cleaning up the affiliate rep one person at a time. :)
  • You are the man! It was awesome talking sports with you. Glad to see I'm not the only one who things broadcasters are a mess! We will defiantly have to catch up soon. I'll see if i can sneak down to a summit.
